The 9th Annual Venice Vintage Motorcycle Rally kicked off September 17th with a bang as hundreds of vintage motorcycles roared through the streets of Venice & Santa Monica in a parade to the sea. The endless line of motorcycles cruised down PCH, ending up at Pepperdine where the group took a photo on the lawn with a backdrop of American flags from the 9/11 exhibit. The bikes returned through the famous Venice canals to a parking lot flooded with new and modern machines. Upon one’s arrival they found live music, vendors ranging from apparel brands to bike builders to local shops. If you were hungry from the long ride you could choose from a selection of BBQ from Clutch’s Roadhouse. If you were thirsty you could pony up to the bar and get a specialty cocktail from the Basement Tavern or some delicious suds from Angel City Brewery, Pabst Blue Ribbon, or 2 Towns Cider.
Those with dreams of winning the bike contest navigated the packed lot to where the entrants were sorted by class. Pierre & Rick managed the display while Chris, Wayne, Kevin & Lucas judged the 12 classes of motorcycles.

At 4pm, the fabulous Lady Falco of Trim hair salon hosted the Miss VVMC pinup contest. The gals strutted their stuff to a panel of celebrity judges with Miss Angie Papanikolas taking home the crown.
The big moment of the day was the announcement of the winner of the 1961 Harley Davidson built by Doug Stedman and the VVMC. Cecilia Barroso purchased two tickets online and, although she wasn’t in person when the winning ticket was drawn, she quickly drove down to the event to claim her prize. But she was not the only winner, as a portion of the proceeds from raffle ticket sales benefitted the LA Ride for Kids benefitting the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation! Great work gang!
Exhausted from the long day, everyone packed up and rode into the sunset...the perfect ending to a perfect day!
